Money-Saving Wedding Reception
Your wedding reception does not have to cost an arm and a leg. There are many
ways to save a substantial amount of money on wedding receptions, without
cutting out any of the fun.
Most likely, your wedding reception will involve a good number of guests.
Therefore you will need a facility large enough to accommodate everyone. You do
not always have to rent out an expensive reception hall in a hotel or other
event center. Holding the reception in a friend’s beautiful backyard can save a
bundle of cash. Another cost saving location can be a gazebo facility at your
local park.
If you do decide to have your wedding reception catered by a third-party, then
one good way to save money involves alcoholic beverages. An open bar can cost
thousands of dollars. To get the best of both worlds, offer alcoholic beverages,
but do it with a cash bar format. That way guests will get their alcohol, but
they will have to pay for it themselves on a per drink basis.
Don’t forget to surprise your guests with thoughtful wedding favors. (Check with
the organizer of the bridal shower as they should have purchased
great bridal
shower favors for the bride.) There are many unique favors that will delight
your guests and show your appreciation for their attendance, all for less than
three dollars a piece. Awesome favors include functional bottle stoppers, or
perfect pear shaped candles.
In order to save money on wedding reception food, try going light on the
appetizers. One or two good appetizers are almost always enough. Between a good
filling main course and the wedding cake, people will end up getting plenty of
food to satisfy their hunger.
Now that a bunch of money has been saved from a not-so-expensive wedding
reception, you can use that money for other things. If you and your to-be bride
or groom are the ones paying for the reception, the money saved can be used for
important newlywed stuff, like honeymoons and new mortgage payments.
