The design and construction of The Royal Ballet's 75th
anniversary cake
Big, from Elite Syncopations
The cake, with Royal Ballet Director Monica Mason
The molds are created, either complete or part finished for those which will require accurate fitting to the cake top...
The body is secured to the cake before arms are added...
the mold is carefully aligned and shaped to fit the exact final resting place on the cake befor the painting commences
very delicate, and this photo is not the best...
...The hair and head-dress need to be completed before assembly...
...He also is part fitted, with his arms being aligned to the cake later....
...She is relatively simple to mold, as a stool is made to fit her, rather than the other way around. Painting is the issue here...
Again, once the delicate molding of the tu-tu is complete, and dry, then sitting on top is, well, a piece of cake!
He was simple to make, hard -and fun- to paint
the finished item. What do you think/ let me know.
It's all down to the tasting now!
All that hard work. Oh well, back to wedding cakes for a while!
